I would recommend emailing tech support because their wait times on the phone suck. If you're looking to setup a somewhat secure FTP file share think twice. The NAS will not support inherited access restrictions. If you setup a user to access one folder they can access them all! Cons: Shut down with alarm and no other explanation within first 10hrs.

Overall Review: Have lost any trust in buffalo products, had printer server that worked.. Great device when it works as it should. Cons: I have had 3 of these. The first one failed in less than a month, and the second in about 6 months. The first one continued to communicate with the computer via the NAS interface but I could not access my data. The second would not communicate at all.
Buffalo quickly replaced these units however. Overall Review: I love this thing, but I don't trust it as a primary repository of my files. Make sure you have them backed up elsewhere.
Pros: Works really great! I can back up data pretty fast on my mb home network. Wish I had a mb connection If I did this thing would fly. I transferred about 40 gigs in an hour or so. Easy setup. Cons: Buffalo is slow with firmware updates. If the power goes out you have to log in to the system settings and re-apply webaccess settings to get it running again could easily be fixed with a firmware update when they make one.
Overall Review: I would suggest using a back up battery supply with this. You really need a good router with this NAS because you have to forward ports to use some of the features from the outside. Pros: Great Features. NAS good networks speed on wired connections. I love the Web Access and printer server features. In addition the memeo backup software is easty to use and very good. Cons: Documentation leaves a bit to be desired. I hear there is an FTP security flaw though I don't use it for this.
